Sammy Moon

Sammy Moon is the former executive director of the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy. In this role, Sammy provided leadership and support to nonprofit and philanthropic organisations in their efforts to strengthen Mississippi's children, families, and communities. His work involves interaction with nonprofit organisations, foundations, United Ways, public sector entities, and businesses throughout the state. Prior to becoming the executive director of The Alliance, Sammy served as director of the Mississippi Association of Grantmakers (MAG). Before his work with MAG, Sammy worked as senior advisor to United Way Worldwide's Field Engagement Division, working with local United Ways interested in third-grade reading programming and impact investing. Sammy also worked as a senior associate at the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Baltimore, MD, the largest private foundation in the country devoted solely to building stronger futures for vulnerable children and their families.

A native of Amory, Mississippi, Sammy holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Mississippi, a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School at Harvard University.
